In the past few days, Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Charity opened the “Al-Mashareq” Plant to desalinate and purify drinking water for the Haifa Charity Hospital and residents of the surrounding area east of Gaza City, by supporting of generous donor from Sultanate of Oman.
The Charity declared: “The water situation in Gaza Strip is very catastrophic. Pollution is about 98%. The chloride and nitrate levels in the water are much higher than the WHO specifications, which makes water unsuitable for drinking. Therefore, the Charity is interested in drilling water wells and establishing desalination plants to alleviate this crisis.”
The Charity added: “The location of the plant has been chosen according to several factors, the most important of which is the hospital’s need for clean water for surgical operations. There is also a population density in the area with no other desalination plants making residents forced to purchase water, which in turn increases the burden of living on poor families.”
The management of the Haifa Charity Hospital and the residents of the region expressed sincere gratitude to the generous donor of Oman for donating the station and his support to the people of Gaza Strip, thus enhancing the bonds of love and brotherhood between the Palestinian and Omani peoples.
