Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Charity distributed bags and school stationery to more than 500 Syrian students in the city of Afrin near the Syrian-Turkish borders in the framework of its supporting the educational process and supporting our kin in Syria.
The Chairman of Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Mr. Abdullah Al-Astal said: “We received several contacts from the people of the city and charitable institutions to carry out relief projects for the residents who greatly suffered as a result of the unfortunate Syrian events, and in our turn we coordinated with the concerned institutions, led by the Kurdish organization AFAD and the Syrian Rescue Agency as well as the Turkish Red Crescent.
Abdullah Al-Astal continued by saying: “During the visit, we found the situation worse than we imagined. The economic situation is very poor and the educational sector is suffering from worsening crises, in addition to the fact that the schools are dilapidated and in a deplorable state.
Abdullah Al-Astal talked about the importance of project by his saying: “The implementation of the project was as a result of our belief in the right of children to education and not to be deprived of it under any circumstances. We hope these students will rebuild Syria and build a home for their country and nation.”
The students and parents thanked Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Charity for travelling hundreds of kilometers and visiting them to distribute bags and stationery. They also thanked the generous donor in the Arab Islamic countries, especially the Sultanate of Oman, to ensure providing the required amount for the project.
It is worth mentioning that the staff of the Charity will carry out a second visit during this week to implement a relief project for Palestinian refugees in the city of Afrin.
