During the past week, Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Charity opened a well and AL-Amal Plant to desalinate and purify drinking water in south Gaza Strip with a capacity of 100,000 liters of drinking water per day, by a generous donor from the Sultanate of Oman.
The Chairman of Wafaa Al-Muhsenin Charity Mr. Abdullah Al-Astal said: “The water situation in Gaza Strip is catastrophic and it is in a continuous situation of deterioration where the pollution rate reached about 98% along with a significant increase in the percentage of salinity, chloride and nitrates compared to WHO specifications, making water in the Strip not suitable for drinking.”
Abdullah Al-Astal added, “Households are forced to purchase water continuously and periodically, increasing the burden and suffering of poor families, especially under the unjust siege on Gaza Strip. This project aims at contributing to the provision of drinking water and improving its quality, as well as getting water Free of charge.”
The people of the beneficiary region also thanked the generous donor for his donation and contribution to build the plant, asking God to bless him, increase his bounty and perpetuate security and stability in the Sultanate of Oman.
