Amid a deepening humanitarian crisis and over 45 days of closed border crossings, as the machinery of war resumes its relentless assault on both people and infrastructure—crushing the land and destroying every aspect of life—the Wafaa Al-Muhsineen Charitable Foundation has managed to secure 1,000 baskets of fresh, locally sourced vegetables and distribute them to the most vulnerable families across the Gaza Strip.
The baskets contained essential items that have become scarce in the markets, including tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, onions, both hot and sweet peppers, and cauliflower. This comes amidst the near-total absence of vegetables due to the widespread destruction of agricultural lands and the livelihoods of farmers.
The provision of these baskets came after direct coordination and significant efforts with several merchants, despite the challenging circumstances, limited availability, and high prices. It is estimated that more than 90% of Gaza’s residents are unable to afford these baskets due to severe poverty and the lack of income.
The foundation affirms its continued efforts despite the challenges, and its determination to explore all possible avenues to alleviate the suffering of the people, securing the minimum requirements for a dignified life.
